If you’re like me, you’ve dreamed of seeing the desert landscapes and mountains that seem to be all over Instagram every Spring. I’ve vacationed to Palm Springs more times than you can count on both hands for more reasons than just the fantastic backdrop. I’m sharing the reasons I keep going back from girls trips to family trips.
Palm Springs is great place to visit all year round! (Remember it’s a desert – check the temps!) Some of the major events are Modernism week, BNP Paribas Pro Tennis tournament, Coachella Music Festival, and Stagecoach Country Music Festival just to list a few. All year round you can hike, ride bikes or get some sun next to the pool!
Where to stay: Home rentals with your own pool party is my favorite for a group trip! Bonus: Many Rentals are mid century modern!
MUST DO Bike Ride: It’s mainly flat too! Check out the rad architecture, Frank Sinatra’s home, colorful doors and pretty landscapes. Many hotels and rental houses have bikes you can use.
Going out: I suggest visiting Toucans Tiki Lounge at least once! It’s the “local gay bar” and always a good time!
Visit a pool or water park! We Visited Wet N Wild Water Park!
Adventure: There are lots of places nearby to hike for a great view or you can take the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway.
Joshua Tree National Park is an hour drive away! *I waited in a long line to get into the park*. It is pretty and worth seeing once but not one of the Parks I will visit many times.
Music Festivals – of course! The El Paseo Shopping District is incredible! The restaurants are amazing too!! If you’re looking for a good deal, the Cabazon Outlets are 20 miles away!
Where we stay: We try to stay at a different Hotel or AirBnb every time! My favorite hotel we’ve stayed at together was the Palm Springs Hotel. It was very quaint and quiet! Check it out here!
I stayed at the Omni Hotel Las Palmas with my husband’s family. We celebrated my mother-in-laws 60th birthday there! The hotel has a lazy river and a few water slides for the kids (great way to escape the heat!) They also had multiple pools and one adult only pool. We ordered lunch by the lazy river and spent the entire day floating. This was enough to tire everyone out!
One night we went to the Tommy Bahama restaurant. It is located in the El Paseo Shopping District. The restaurant had A.C., live music and was a fun dinner with the kids!
Next Trip I’m planning to stay at The Saguaro! This hotel might be the cutest building I’ve ever seen! Who wants to come with?!
