The Road to Hana is a narrow highway with unforgettable views located on the island of Maui. Here are my top 3 favorite stops and a few tips that made our day so relaxed and fun!

The early bird gets the worm on the road to Hana… so set your alarm clock! Our hotel told us leaving early helps avoid traffic, we listened and barely had traffic so I’m advising the same.
Mile Marker 19.5ish Upper Waikani Falls
This was my absolute favorite spot! I would describe it as three falls that go into one pool. I parked 100 yards past the falls and walked down. Getting under the bridge is tricky (slippery in sandals) but worth it! Pictures do not do it justice.
Mile Marker 32.2 Waianapanapa Black Sand Beach!
The beach is gorgeous, unusual and was busy the day we went. We swam in small waves similar to a wave pool at a water park.. so dang cool! A lot of tour buses were visiting but that wouldn’t stop me from going back. There was also a restroom at this stop.

Red Sand Beach!
Red Sand Beach – Route directions to Hotel Hana Maui and screen shot before you leave! We were told to park on the side of the Uakea Rd right before the Hotel Hana Maui gate. Once parked, walk across the Hana Community Center Field for a trail. Its on the right (ocean) side of the field. It’s a short hike to an absolutely stunning beach. I am going to be honest! I completely fell down walking down to this beach. I don’t think it’s that dangerous of a trail down but if you’re as excited as I was, use caution! Haha
Take some time to sit in the shallow crystal clear tide pool! It was outstanding!
We did not turn around after this beach and continued to finish the road to Hana.
